Show your willingness to serve HLS on one of the following committees!
Bylaws:
Reviews the HSL Bylaws and recommends changes as needed for the effective functioning of the section.
Governmental Relations:
Serves as a liaison to MLA's Governmental Relations Committee; monitors policy issues and governmental actions relating to hospital libraries and hospitals; alerts Section members to relevant information and needed action.
Information Technology:
Identifies and develops mechanisms for supporting automation activities in hospital libraries; serves as a clearing-house for automation information; supports and provides input to the Section's program planning efforts.
Membership:
Promotes membership in the Section and in MLA; monitors members’ expectations; administers the Certificate of Service program for retirees.
Professional Development:
Assesses the needs of HLS members; supports and develops CE opportunities; co-ordinates program planning with the Program committee; links with MLA CE Committee and other national committees as appropriate; monitors and provides input to the MLA Credentialing Program; develops a leadership skills program.
Professional Recognition:
Identify HLS members who have made a significant contribution to HLS, MLA or medical librarianship in general over the past year.
Publications:
Monitors National Network's purpose; guidelines, objectives, and policies; promotes and supports publishing activities among HLS members; promotes the image of hospital libraries.
Standards:
Monitors developments in the health care industry relating to standards, guidelines, and issues affecting hospital libraries; makes recommendations for new standards; serves as a liaison with other library and health care organizations.
Strategic Planning:
Monitors and reports on the current strategic plan; reviews and evaluates the plan against HLS's goals and objectives; recommends updates of the plan as needed.
Year 2009 Program:
Assist the HLS Program Chair with planning and coordinating the 2009 HLS educational and social programs in Honolulu, HI.
